Syllabus:Patient assessment. Principles of diagnosis, prognosis, treatment planning, prevention and treatment methods for caries and periodontal disease. Record keeping. Restorative dentistry - classical and modified preparations, insertion. Dental radiography - radiation, machines, films, quality, safety, periapicals, bitewings, occlusals, post-clinical procedures, interpretation, errors, lateral obliques. Dental trauma. Exodontia - instruments and techniques.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated knowledge of patient assessment and record keeping procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of the direct restoration of teeth in children. Demonstrated knowledge of the extraction of deciduous teeth. Demonstrated knowledge of chronic periodontal disease and its management. Demonstrated knowledge of dental radiography procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of specific patient care procedures.
