Syllabus:Laboratory and clinical practice in dental hygienist procedures. Patient assessment, treatment planning, prevention and treatment methods for periodontal diseases. Post-treatment care, desensitizing agents. Record keeping, appointment scheduling. Local analgesia. Dental radiography - intraoral, lateral oblique and panoramic radiographs. Additional practical/clinical hours conducted outside of normal semester hours
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Performed specific preclinical care procedures. Implemented appropriate occupational health work practices in the clinic. Performed patient assessment procedures. Documented patient records completely and accurately. Provided specific dental hygiene care for patients.
