Syllabus:Laboratory practice in dental hygienist procedures - clinic preparation, infection control, appointments, patient assessment, records. Instruments. Moisture control. Polishing and re-contouring restorations. Alginate impressions, study casts. Plaque control and removal. Fluoride applications, sealants. Introduction to periodontal instrumentation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated application of dental clinic protocol. Manipulated dental instruments and materials. Performed specific preclinical patient care procedures.
