Practice of development in the Third World. Critical analysis of the range of approaches to designing, implementing and evaluating development projects. Topics include - project cycle in planning, understanding the project environment, Logical Framework Analysis, participatory and control-oriented management techniques.
 
Unit Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit students will have - Knowledge of the main types of development projects including management techniques, funding arrangements and impacts on local communities. An understanding of how development policy articulates with development practice. Analytical skills to critically evaluate the range of the management techniques currently applied in development practice.
