Syllabus:Behaviour management. Communication processes. Concepts and management of stress, anxiety, anger, fear, pain and depression. Coping mechanisms and strategies for relaxation. Assertiveness. Alterations to body image. Research on adaptations to illness. Loss and grief, death, dying and bereavement.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Used effective interpersonal communication processes with small groups contexts. Enumerated behavioural adaptations to illness. Identified appropriate coping strategies in the clinical setting. Recognised cross-cultural perspectives on adaptations to illness. Explored responses to loss and grief, death, dying and bereavement relevant to nursing practice.
