Syllabus: | Examination of visual arts of Australia's Indigenous inhabitants exploring the following themes - the context and significance of the visual arts in Aboriginal society, the diversity of Aboriginal visual arts styles in past and present practice, the emergence of Aboriginal visual arts in the context of contemporary Australian culture and issues concerning production and distribution of contemporary Aboriginal art. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Understood the context and significance of the visual arts in Aboriginal society. An appreciation of the diversity of Aboriginal arts styles in the past and present. debated on-going issues in the production and distribution of contemporary Aboriginal art with particular reference to Aboriginal perspectives on these issues. |
