Syllabus:Further develops the ability of advanced learners of the Chinese (Mandarin) language to use the language for trade and for doing business in Chinese-speaking communities. Students are encouraged to learn through taking part in simulated activities and through self-directed studies on topics in relation to business culture and intercultural communications. Students will also acquire hands-on experience in handling Chinese business documents.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Gained some fundamental understanding of business culture and practices of Chinese-speaking communities. Acquired skills necessary for communicating with Mandarin-speaking clients in everyday business context. Improved ability to present company information to Mandarin-speaking clients. Developed some strategies for handling texts and reference material in Chinese and for carrying out independent research on financial news in Chinese language newspapers.
