Syllabus: | Concepts and principles of relational database modelling and design, creation of a relational database from a conceptual (entity relationship) model, normalisation, data and database integrity, design and definition of database structures (tables, columns, indexes and views), use of structured query language (SQL) to interface with a database, transaction analysis. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Created a relational database schema based on a conceptual model and any other data storage requirements otherwise identified. Created document database structures including tables, columns, andindexes according to standards. Used SQL to construct, secure and access data in a database. Understood the fundamental principles of different data architectures. |
