Introduction
This research course provides the opportunity to develop special interests in selected areas of Oenology by means of a research thesis. A research project in Oenology is required. This includes presentation of a research thesis.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Completion of a good honours degree from an approved institution. Alternatively, admission may be gained by the completion of a relevant postgraduate diploma or equivalent, to a satisfactory standard. A background in research methodology is required. If this is not met, then an appropriate research methodology unit will have to be completed. Also appropriate bridging units in areas relevant to the research topic may have to be undertaken.
Duration and Availability
The minimum course duration is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. The maximum duration is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Course Organisation
This is a research degree. The contents of this course should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, Muresk Institute. Applicants without prior studies in research methods and statistics will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute Agricultural Science [AIAIS].
Career Opportunities
Graduates will find employment with industries associated with the supply chain of these industries.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
