Double Degree in Agribusiness and Journalism


BAgribus(Curtin), BA(Curtin)

Introduction

This course combines agribusiness management and marketing education with journalism. Technical principles of agriculture, viticulture, horticulture or aquaculture is part of the agribusiness marketing degree.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

None.

Specific Requirements

A minimum of twelve weeks practical work must be completed outside of the normal semester time.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are encouraged from applicants and are assessed on an individual basis. Applications for recognition of prior learning may be awarded for approved TAFE units. Students who have completed the Associate Degreein Agribusiness may apply for recognition of prior learning in the Bachelor of Agribusiness Bachelor of Arts Journalism double degree.

Duration and Availability

This course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. External study is also available. Students must complete a period of twelve weeks of industry practice. Industry practice is a prerequisite for graduation.

Course Organisation

Journalism, and Agribusiness Marketing are studied concurrently, with units from both fields being studied in every semester.

Professional Recognition

Graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science (AIAIS).

Career Opportunities

Employment may be found as Journalists in print, radio or other media in areas that deal in Agribusiness.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
