Double Degree in Communication and Cultural Studies and Media and Information

Introduction

This double degree in Communication and Cultural Studies and Media and Information combines knowledge and related expertise combined with a professional training in Media and Information.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE English or English Literature, minimum scaled mark of 60 desirable.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Note

Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is of four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

Students undertake one major in Australian and Intercultural Studies, Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Literary Studies, Performance Studies, Professional Writing and Presentation or Publishing Practice in combination with one major in Film and Television, Internet Studies, Journalism, Librarianship and Corporate Information or Media Studies. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
