Introduction

This advanced study program has been designed to provide opportunities for both practising professionals and recent graduates to extend their scientific competence in any of the following chosen specialisations: Chemistry; Computer Science; Dryland Agricultural Systems; Environmental Biology and Management; Mathematical Sciences; Industrial Engineering and Sustainable Aquaculture; Geophyiscs and Sustainability Management. This course develops a more critical and problem solving approach to science through coursework. The course forms a basis for the professional development of experts able to cope with sophisticated research and development problems in industry. This course is Exit Award only within the Master of Science -Science.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree in science in a chosen area of scientific study or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary educational institution.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Two intakes are offered each year in March and August.

Additional Course Expenses

Students are expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials. Students may require a laboratory coat for some areas of study.

Special Note

Depending on the major completed, students will graduate with either the Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry, Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science, Postgraduate Diploma in Dryland Agricultural Systems, Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Biology and Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Sciences, Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Postgraduate Diploma in Physics, Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture.
