Syllabus:	Applied sedimentology, Principles and applications of sedimentary basin analysis. Sequence stratigraphy Controls on basin fill. Coal geology: formation, rank and variations. Factors affecting value of coals and their uses. Nature, origin, migration and accumulation of oil. Exploration techniques. Petroleum technology. Reservoir evaluation, source, seal, trap formation. Petroleum systems development, petroleum production and reserves, environmental aspects of fossil fuels, alternative energy resources.
