Syllabus: The unit will examine the fundamentals of states' strategic behaviour and planning; the interplay between geographical circumstances and the ever changing military technology; the importance of the continuing technological war between states; alliance management; the Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean geo-strategic environment; the evolution of Australia's strategic culture, and national strategic and defence planning. The unit contributes to students' education and training for professional appointments with an emphasis on security and strategic policy analysis.
