Syllabus: This unit will introduce students to, and showcase main aspects of, themes such as the formation of Australia as a nation, its engagement with the region, and problems of contemporary regional and international affairs. The unit consists of four modules:the White Commonwealth and Australia's white settler society, which examines Australian identity and ideas; Australia's engagement with the region and positioning itself as a regional hegemon; Asia's view of Australia, and the challenges of globalisation.
