Workshop: 1 x 80 Hours Once-only
Anti Requisite(s): 308807 (v.1) Fluid Mechanics 230 or any previous version
Syllabus (HB): This unit emphasises oil production facilities from the wellhead to the delivery of a specification crude oil product to the refinery. Both onshore and offshore facilities are discussed. In addition to the engineering aspects of oil production facilitiessuch as process selection, facilities integration, practical operating problems are also assessed including emulsion treatment, sand handling, dealing with wax and asphaltenes. Produced water treatment and water injection systems are evaluated. Solution gas handling processes and equipment are considered at an advanced level. The following topics are covered in the PetroSkills In-house Course Manuals: Overview of upstream oil and gas production operations; Fluid properties and phase behaviour; Overview of artificial lift; Processing configurations (examples of Process Flow Diagrams); Phase separation of gas, oil, and water; Emulsions; Sand, wax, and asphaltenes; Oil treating; Field desalting; Crude stabilization and sweetening; Crude oil storage an vapour recovery; Measurement of crude oil; Transportation of crude oil; Treatment of produced water; Water injection systems; Overview of solution gas processing; Compressors; Sweetening; Dehydration; Natural Gas Liquid recovery; Relief flare and systems.
