Syllabus: Introduction to management theory and the management cycle as applicable to farm practices. Topics include: internal farm environment and systems. The nature and use of farm management, budgeting, accounting and farming practices and techniques. Stock reconciliations, cropping, stocking and rotations. Inventories, capital items, depreciation, loans, interest. Gross margin and profit calculation, income and expenditure, cash flow, assets, liabilities, equity. Development, year in year out , partial and parametric budgets. Cash control and recording systems. Basic linear programming.
