Syllabus: This unit introduces students to the role and significance of writing in creating and reflecting the Zeitgeist, or spirit of the times. Students will be able to identify, describe, analyse and experiment with a range of written genres and forms, including: personal essays; news writing and magazine articles; writing for the World Wide Web; creative non-fiction; satire and humour; writing about environmental issues; corporate communications; sports writing; and arts reviews.
