311149 v.1 Industrial Modelling and Optimisation Major (Bachelor of Science)

Introduction

This double major is designed to provide graduates with the necessary skills in mathematics, engineering, computing and management to prepare them for employment in business, industrial and government organisation. Industrial Modelling and Optimisation programs are well established world-wide, usually appearing under the title "Industrial Engineering" or "Operations Research". These programs are presently enjoying considerable growth because of the significant contribution that graduates can make towards increased efficiency and productivity of business and industry. Nationally, demand for graduates comes from Government Departments (Agriculture, Forest Products Commission, Treasury, Transport and Infrastructure, Minerals and Energy, Health), Governmentagencies (CSIRO, DSTO), and industries such as Mining and Petroleum, Banking Communications, Defence, Transport and Logistics, and manufacturing.
