Environmental Geoscience - geological hazards - volcanoes, earthquakes, coastal processes. Mining and rehabilitation, metal and nutrient pollution, environmental effects of mining and energy production, geochemistry and health. Climate change and the global atmosphere - ozone, greenhouse, local air pollution, acid rain. Interaction of life with Earth processes over four billion years, time in earth history, astrobiology, origins of life, in space and on earth, climate change, snowball earth to greenhouse world. Role of plate tectonics, mechanisms of evolution and extinction and human evolution.
