308909 v.1 Biomedical Specialisation Stream I (Security Technology)

Introduction

This stream provides Security Technology graduates with both a general security and sensor technology background and specialist biomedical knowledge and skills with an emphasis on microbiology. These graduates will be in a position to provide specialistbiomedical related security advice to organisations and/or undertake research in security related areas such as - identifying and assessing biological weapons and infection containment and progression. The students will also be aware of the large range of sensor technologies and the political, ethical and legal implications of security issues. Students interested in security and applied biomedicine will find this stream challenging, interesting and rewarding. Students who achieve good marks may have the opportunity to progress to a higher degree in a biological field or security technology. This stream is specifically intended for students who have completed applied mathematics or an equivalent qualification and will provide a stronger mathematical and statistical background.
