Syllabus:

Experimental techniques and analytical skills - nuclear, X-ray, mass spectrometry, geophysics, electron microscopy, satellite meteorology and oceanography. For example, electron microscopy, theory, electron probe microanalyser, applications and recent advances. Mass spectrometry. Instrumentation - ion sources, magnetic analysers and detection systems. Data handling. Accuracy and systems calibration. Applications - geophysics, nuclear physics, chemistry, environmental science and archaeometry. Practical experience.
