Syllabus:

Podiatric surgery of the foot and ankle and review of common techniques used in surgery of the foot and ankle. Surgical management of the podiatric patient. An appreciation of podiatric surgical protocol and be able to work, evaluate and communicate in the surgical environment. History of podiatric surgery in Australia and the world. Principles of below knee casting. Use of diathermy, electro surgery techniques and equipment for soft tissue removal. Suturing techniques. Nail surgery - avulsion and matrixcautery practical sessions. Pre and post-operative care and record keeping. Review of resuscitation. Podiatric orthopaedics - podiatric management of foot disorders using orthoses, footwear manufacture and modification.
