Syllabus: This unit will investigate on-farm animal production strategies for extensive and intensive livestock industries. Students will review current production practices as well as new technologies associated with livestock production systems. A part of the review of extensive animal production, students will gain knowledge of pasture production and the management systems associated with grazing systems. The unit will provide students with knowledge of sustainable animal productions systems, relevant to the changing climate, quality assurance, consumer requirements and animal welfare considerations.
