Syllabus: Local hormones: mediators of inflammation and allergy: Eicosanoids. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; COX-1 and COX-2 antagonists. Histamine H1 receptor blockers. Anti-inflammatory Agents: Disease-modifying anti-rheumatoid drugs (DMARDs); quinolones, gold salts, TNF? and IL-1 antagonists, immunosuppressants. Leucotrienes and leucotriene receptor antagonists; lipoxygenase inhibitors. Uric acid modifying drugs. Antiplatelet drugs. Immunosuppression: Corticosteroids; drugs affecting nucleic acid metabolism; folate antagonists; IL-2 receptor blockers. Purines. Serotonergic (5-HT) transmission: Classification of serotonergic receptors. Serotonin receptor agonists and antagonists. Pain Pathways: Drugs used in pain control. Opioid analgesics and antagonists: Morphine and chemically related opioids; tramadol, methadone and related drugs. Opioid partial agonists and antagonists. Local anaesthetics and general anaesthetics. Antineoplastic agents: Nucleic acids: Anti-neoplastics Gastrointestinal System: Ca metabolism. Vitamins/nutrition. Digestion. Drugs affecting gastro-intestinal secretion, emesis and motility.
