Syllabus:	Introduction to protein structure: proteins, enzymes, amino acid structure and function, protein structure, functions, properties, isolation techniques, enzymes kinetics and clinical aspects. Metabolism: intermediary metabolism. Lipids. Nitrogen metabolism blood glucose, U and E co-factors and coenzymes: hormone action. Principles of pharmacology: mechanisms of drug action; molecular and biochemical basis of drug-receptor interactions. Autonomic Nervous System: Neurohumoral transmission and the autonomic nervous system. Muscarinic receptor agonists and antagonists; anticholinesterase; nicotinic drugs acting on the sympatho-adrenal nervous system. Sympathomimetic drugs; sympathetic receptors.
