Syllabus:

Body defence - infection, autoimmunity, anaphylaxis. Homeostasis - regulation of pH, shock. Mobility - fractures, soft tissue injuries, vertebral column injuries. Metabolism and nutrition - hepatobiliary and renal dysfunction. Oxygenation - cardiac dysfunction, peripheral vascular disease, anaemia, haemostasis and thromboemboli.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Examined microbiological aspects of related disease states. Demonstrated the capacity to apply relevant physiology and pathophysiology to nursing practice. Identifies the relationship between pharmacological agents and the relevant disease process.
