Syllabus:

Medical Surgical Nursing Care. Airway management, care of the unconscious patient. Medical/surgical asepsis. Fluid, wound, pressure, pain and continence management. Documentation and evaluation of care. Health mathematics. Administration of medications. Introduction to perioperative nursing.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Demonstrated achievement of competencies in specified medical/surgical clinical placement. Provided safe nursing care in the preoperative environment. Communicated effectively within the health care team. Accurately reflected the nursing of a client in documentation.
