Syllabus:

Introduction to health informatics- data management, electronic communications. Health care information systems design. Health care information systems implementation. Ethical issues in health informatics. Creating a database and tables using Access. Entering and editing data. Current developments in the Western Australian health arena.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Identified types and characteristics of data and information systems components. Demonstrated an understanding of health data linkage in relation to specialised health information databases. Described the key components of data management and related these to data quality. Built a database of information by entering and editing data using Microsoft Access and then generated reports.
