Syllabus:

Futures research and its multidisciplinary applications are examined. The complementary roles of quantitative and qualitative research approaches as well as locating and understanding, interpreting and critiquing databases, previous research and related sources of information are outlined. Ways of planning a futures project, identifying contexts and frameworks and choosing data, tools and methods are discussed.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Understood the scenario planning process and its application. An ability to interview and form key factors for scenario planning. Understood environmental scanning techniques. Developed and written scenarios. Understood how to integrate scenarios with strategic planning and organisational development.
