Syllabus:A focus on medium scale framed building design - floor, wall and roof systems. Cladding material selection, system connections, related structural principles - roof drainage, general weatherproofing. Introduction to the role of consultants. Undertaking project-based design exercises in workshop tutorials - liaise with structural engineers and access related building construction sites.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - The ability to carry out basic design development for a medium-scaled architectural project to integrate structural systems and materials selection resolution. A basic understanding of the role that consultants play in the process of architecture and building and how to work with them effectively for the benefit of the architectural project.
