Syllabus:Introduction to the conceptual foundations established through Planning for Diversity. Encourages a critical reflexive approach to develop interpersonal skills. Develops an understanding of what community development entails and the role of planners in community development.
 
Unit Outcomes: Upon completion of this unit students will have developed a critical reflective approach to their work, interpersonal skills, and gained an understanding of what community development entails and the role of planners in community development. Gained corecommunity development skills including communication, group working, writing, motivating, advocacy and skill sharing. Developed an understanding of citizenship, social exclusion, Ife's six components of community development, indicators of community well-being, and indicators of community development practice. Gained knowledge of skills and practice issues including principles of community development, practice frameworks, examples and cases of integrated planning and community development.
