Syllabus:Continues on with the issues raised throughout the Design in Context course with particular regard to contemporary theories of communication as they relate to a broad range of two and three dimensional and virtual design disciplines. This unit is undertaken over a six week period.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Enhanced analytical skills for decoding and commenting upon two and three dimensional and virtual designs. Enhanced analyical skills for encoding and developing two and three dimensional and virtual designs. Developed experience and communication skills from working with a small team on a group presentation. Understanding of a range of contemporary communication theories from design and related disciplines with specific regards to their role within design practice and the field of design studies.

Unit Assessment Breakdown: Definition of Theoretical and Design Related Terms Excercise 10%, Presentation 40%, Essay 50%. This is done by grade/mark assessment. All assignments must be completed. Attendence of not less than 75% is expected. This is a minimum requirement. The importance of regular attendance and participation in lectures and tutorials is emphasised. A collective pass grade must be attained.
