132510 v.2 Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), Bachelor of Science (Physics)

BSc(Curtin), BSc(Curtin)
Introduction
This double degree provides graduates with a solid background in the principles and practices of computer science and physics. It prepares the students for a range of employment opportunities that require computing and technological skills combined with a sound knowledge of physical sciences.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Physics, Applicable Mathematics and Calculus. Well performed candidates without some of these subjects may be required to complete special course units as required.

Specific Requirements
The STAT is not accepted for entry to this course.

Note
In certain cases, the need to complete bridging or special units as required, may result in an extension of studies beyond the normal length of the course. Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is requied for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This course is four years full-time study or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation
Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Professional Recognition
Graduates from these programs meet the requirements for Professional Level accreditation of the Australian Computer Society, and for membership of the Australian Institute of Physics.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
