Syllabus:

Exploratory data analysis, probability, conditional probability, independent events. Random variable, distribution functions, expectation and variance. Binomial, Poisson, normal exponential and uniform distributions. Sampling distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.
 

Unit Outcomes:

1. To introduce students to the concept of a random variable and the basic theory of probability. 2. To introduce students to elementary probability distributions and the techniques used in hypothesis testing.
