Course Overview
Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This course provides education and training in the professional practice of psychology. It is the fifth year component of the 5+1 pathway to registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Graduates will be eligible to apply for general registration with the PsyBA after successful completion of one year of supervised practice and successful completion of the National Psychology Examination.
Professional Recognition
This course has been submitted to the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council for accreditation.
Career Opportunities
This course provides access to a wide variety of employment opportunities in government and non-government counselling and mental health services. Upon completion of their internship and successful completion of the national Psychology Examination, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as psychologists with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Course Entry and Completion Details
A psychology degree with 2A Honours or equivalent within the last 10 years. Entry is competitive and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Specific Course Completion Details
Applicants must be eligible for registration with the PsyBA as a provisional psychologist.
Course Organisation
This course provides students with education and training in the professional practice of psychology. The course is designed to integrate coursework, research and placement components with an emphasis on experiential learning.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply psychology knowledge, principles and practice to achieve client-centred and evidence-informed outcomes
2. generate effective solutions through critical analysis, reflective practice and professional reasoning
3. critically appraise information and apply it to contemporary psychology theory and practice
4. communicate effectively and appropriately to ensure positive and effective therapeutic and inter-professional relationships; use relevant documentation and reporting processes including the ethical disclosure of professional information
5. evaluate and apply appropriate technologies to contemporary psychology practice
6. develop and apply life-long learning skills to achieve professional competence; engage in research to further develop personal and professional knowledge and skills
7. comply with APAC standards and practices through integration of local and global perspectives relevant to the field
8. practice psychology in a culturally responsive and inclusive manner, incorporating perspectives of multiple stake-holders
9. work in a professional and collaborative manner to meet ethical and legal responsibilities
