Syllabus: | Factors influencing individual and family responses to illness. Sociocultural factors influencing social support and structure and function of the family. Adaptive and maladaptive coping strategies adopted by individuals, families and carers in dealing with the critically unstable patient. Communication strategies and interventions applied to nurses to aid adaptive responses to illness. Inter-professional and intra-professional communication and practice. |
