| Syllabus: | This unit provides an overview of the basic principles of various mining and metallurgical processes for the major commodities mined in Australia and provides essential basic knowledge for professionals in the mining industry. The unit also presents an overview of bulk material handling systems in the mining and mineral industries. This includes topics on bin, hopper and feeder design principles, flow and other characteristics of materials; design, operation and monitoring of conveyors; stockpiles and blending; loading and unloading facilities; and principles of slurry pumping and pump selection calculations. |
