Syllabus: This unit introduces students to hydrocarbon economics, petroleum law and project management techniques Hydrocarbon Economics topics include: Petroleum asset development, supply and demand economics, cash flow analysis, profit maximization and depreciation. Petroleum Law topics include: Risk mitigation through contract negotiations, fiscal systems, domestic and international investment legal regimes, dispute resolution and community issues. Oil field project management topics include: oil and gas project organisation, role and responsibilities of project team members; project planning and scheduling techniques, project monitoring and control techniques; offshore risks and decision analysis.
