Syllabus: | This unit provides a platform for students to investigate the anthropological and biological basis of human behaviour through the study of non-human and hunter-gatherer behaviour. This unit is designed to complement Human Evolution 331 and will investigate the universals of human behaviour including cultural constructions. The laboratory work gives an insight into the methodology of biological anthropology, and develops some competence in the methods of science in general. Students will develop competence in the practical investigation of the study of (primate) behaviour, analyse archaeological and palaeontological information, engage in experimental archaeology (stone tool making) and learn the techniques of anthropometric measurement applied to forensics, ergonomics and racial classification. |
Unit references, texts, outcomes and assessment details | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
