Syllabus: | The unit will examine the development strategies and recent economic history of the Asian economies. The role of government policy in Asia’s economic development will be analysed; this will include consideration of macroeconomic management and relations with the international economy. The experiences of different Asian countries will be considered. Specific topics as they relate to development may include; industrialisation and structural change in Asian economies, international/regional trade and investment, income distribution and sustainable development. |
