Syllabus: | This unit explores and critiques the international human rights system and national human rights framework. In particular it will investigate the role of the United Nations, international and national law in defining, protecting and upholding human rights. Topics include human rights treaties, conventions and declarations; the recognition of Indigenous rights, racial and ethnic minority rights, women's rights and rights of other groups; the investigation and reporting of human rights abuses; tribunals and truth commissions; and the role of non-government organisations. |
