Syllabus: | The unit explores everyday life in modernity and postmodernity. Through the analysis of a range of texts and cultural phenomena, students explore the ways in which understanding of the social, the individual and citizenship has changed in the transition from modernity to postmodernity. Discussion may focus on a particular theorist, (for example, the work of Michel de Certeau), or focus on a specific theme, (for example, the changes in the representation of the body in various media). |
