Syllabus: | Foregrounds Indigenous research perspectives, values and related ethical concerns to counter the tendency for research conducted on Indigenous Australians to be framed by Eurocentric values and Western theories, and thus be exploitative because it serves the interests of the colonising culture. Examination of Aboriginal experiences and perceptions of research and the ethical issues arising from the conduct of research on Aboriginal peoples and cultures. An outline of the historical pattern of research undertaken in Aboriginal contexts, and consideration of the politics and power relations of research. |
