Introduction
The Honours program consists of specialised and intensive, studio-based studies in the fields of design and art. It encourages intellectual and creative involvement at an advanced level appropriate to professional practice. Students are assisted in developing an individual course of study in consultation with academic staff from their chosen studio specialization. The program provides a critical and supportive environment emphasizing independent research and development. Studio practice is complemented by individual and group tutorials in the context of a challenging contemporary theoretical program. This course is an ideal preparation for higher research degree studies.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Refer to Admission into Honours Degree Programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section). Only students with outstanding performance in undergraduate studio practice will be considered for entry to the honours program. Students intending to apply for entry must have achieved a minimum course weighted average of 65 per cent. Candidates must inform the art honours coordinator of their intention to apply for entry to the honours program by the end of fifth semester.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
The honours program is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials. Project unit will require a Retainable Fee.
