| Syllabus: | This unit provides students with a comprehensive high-level understanding of the aspects of a successful space mission and the skills required to design practical space systems. The unit covers mission design and mission architecture, basic spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics, the space environment, design of spacecraft systems, communications, sensors and payloads, verification and testing, industry requirements, launch, ground segment and mission operations. Students will develop their practical skills by designing, modelling and evaluating realistic space missions and systems. |
