Course Overview (Generic)
Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This professional master program is designed for computing/business information professionals who are interested in advancing their skills and knowledge. The master provides scope for the merger of theory and practice and incorporates new concepts and technologies.
This course is accredited in Australia by the Australian Computer Society.

Course (Generic) Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met. Specifically, an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline OR an undergraduate degree in any discipline AND a minimum of 5 years' relevant workplace learning OR a relevant Graduate Certificate.
Credit for Recognised Learning (Generic)
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Students who have already completed the Curtin Graduate Diploma in Commerce (Information Systems), may apply for credit for recognised learning for up to a total of 100 credits.

Course Organisation (Generic)
Master Degrees (Coursework) contain a series of units in a specialised area of study which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may also contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from.
Course (Generic) Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. recommend and manage innovative uses of technology and data driven approaches to improve business and societal outcomes locally and globally
2. evaluate the impact of existing and emerging information and communications technologies on stakeholders, including cultural, ethical, inclusivity, privacy, security and sustainability considerations
3. engage stakeholders and access, evaluate and synthesize information from multiple sources to identify business requirements
4. apply systems theory and systems development techniques to design and develop information systems appropriate to a range of business organisations and to participate effectively in a global environment
5. effectively communicate information and system business cases, requirements, policies and procedures, strategies, system designs, specifications and implementation details to a professional standard
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
