Syllabus: The first of two units that allows students to conduct an advanced individual project involving detailed research into the social, cultural, political and/or economic aspects of the Internet and related new media, network media and social media technologies; the research may include. This project unit will be taken either in the semester before Internet Studies Project 692 or at the same time as Internet Studies Project 692; the two project units form a single coherent activity and may not be taken separately. The specific nature of the project, the methods of research, the analytical tools and the outcomes in terms of reports and/or publications will be determined on an individual basis for each student and may include professionally oriented tasks or components. This first unit focuses on the preparation and design of research, which will then be completed and presented in Internet Studies 692.
