Choice of taxon. Surrogate taxa. Long term vs chronosequence monitoring. Sampling protocols. Water chemistry: nutrients, pH, and conductivity. Assessment of water quality. Effluents and water quality. Aquatic systems health, ecological indicators and biomonitoring of aquatic systems, practical survey techniques of studying macrophytes, riparian vegetation with emphasis on wetlands, rivers and streams, biomonitoring using invertebrates and diatoms. Harmful algal blooms. Restoration, rehabilitation and management of degraded aquatic ecosystems. |
