Syllabus: | Application of scientific principles to animal and crop production as integrated and separate systems. Impacts of animals on soil-crop system, precision agriculture and decision-making, key decisions around annual farm calendar (e.g.joining, summer feeding, preparation for lambing; seeding, and post-seeding management). Information will be delivered in the context of the animal production and crop production year. Students need to demonstrate completion of ten weeks work experience in an agriculture or equine industry of their choice. The unit will incorporate design of a class experiment and attending local Crop Updates. Students will also undertake fieldwork. |
